As a college student considering career paths in fields like medicine and engineering, Marcus Brown realized that there was a common factor in every industry he explored: an increasing reliance on computers and technology.
“I knew if I was going to be ready for any opportunity, I needed to be involved with computers,” said Brown. After graduating from the University of Memphis with a computer sciences degree, Brown began his career as a computer operator at a local bank, but as his life evolved and family responsibilities grew, he realized that he needed to branch out on his own.
Founded in 1989, Brown’s company, Complete Computer Services, has been providing technology consulting and support to other organizations throughout the Midsouth, including businesses, churches, and even one of Memphis’ civic jewels.
“The National Civil Rights Museum gave us a chance to explore other entities of technology through exhibits,” said Brown. “It was an awesome opportunity for us.”
His team of instructors and technicians installs and manages desktop and remote services, networking and communications systems, and A/V and surveillance equipment. Through his work in the community, Brown met Financial Federal customer Howard Eddings and was his guest at the Bank’s relocation reception. He was immediately impressed with the relationships fostered by the Bank and now uses a line of credit from Financial Federal to get the equipment he needs to provide his services.
“It’s like having a friend in the business that I can count on and trust. Ben [Sutton] asks what I need, what my situation is, and we do it. They give me opportunities I wouldn’t have otherwise.”
